What is a continuous glucose monitor?

A continuous glucose monitor — or CGM — is a small device worn on your body that measures the glucose in your interstitial fluid throughout the day and night. Unlike a traditional finger prick test, which gives you a single reading at a single moment, a CGM gives you a live, ongoing picture of where your glucose is and where it’s heading.

For people managing diabetes, that difference is significant. Knowing your glucose is at 7.2 mmol/L and climbing is very different from knowing it’s at 7.2 mmol/L and dropping. A CGM shows you both.

How It Works On Your Body​

Small device. Constant insight.​

The Syai Ultra sensor sits on the back of your upper arm, held in place by its own medical-grade adhesive. Beneath the surface, a tiny filament positioned just under the skin and reads the glucose in your interstitial fluid every five minutes.
Readings take place once a minute. Every 5 minutes the information is sent wirelessly to the Syai app on your phone, where it appears as a live number and a trend graph. No blood. No needles. No interruption to whatever you are doing.

Applying your Syai Ultra sensor takes less than a minute and requires no medical training. Here’s how it works.

Step 1​

Open the Syai app​

Follow the in-app instructions to pair your new sensor. Your first readings will appear within a few minutes.

Choose your spot​

The back of your upper arm is the recommended placement site. Clean the area with a alcohol wipe and allow it to dry.

Step 3​

Remove the cap​

Twist off the applicator cap. You’ll feel a slight resistance — this is normal. Make sure your fingers are on the sides of the applicator and not on the purple button (to ensure no premature launch).

Step 4​

Press the button to apply​

Hold the applicator flat against your skin and press firmly until you hear a click. The sensor inserts and adheres in one motion.

Remove the applicator​

Lift the applicator away. Your sensor is now in place. The insertion is quick — most people describe it as a light prick at most, or nothing at all.
