A Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) is a small wearable device that automatically measures your glucose levels throughout the day and night, sending real-time readings directly to your smartphone or compatible device. This allows you to check your glucose at a glance, view trends over hours or days, and receive alerts when your glucose is too high, too low, or changing rapidly.

Unlike a traditional finger-prick test, which measures glucose in your blood, a CGM measures glucose in the interstitial fluid (the fluid surrounding your body's cells). By providing continuous glucose data and trends, a CGM helps you make more informed decisions about food, exercise, medication, and your overall diabetes management.

A finger-prick test gives you a single glucose reading at one moment in time. The Syai Ultra continuously measures your glucose, showing trends, patterns, and the direction your glucose is moving. This helps you make more informed decisions. It’s also one ‘prick’ every 14 days versus several daily pricks, and you receive well over 280 daily glucose readings.

Legally you don’t require a script for a CGM, especially when purchasing it out of pocket. Some pharmacies would require a script or when it is being reimbursed by your medical aid.

Before applying your sensor, download the Syai app, create an account, and ensure Bluetooth is enabled. Clean and dry the application site using an alcohol wipe, then follow the in-app instructions to apply and activate your sensor.

Provided the Syai app is found in your App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android), your phone will be compatible with the app. You can also check compatibility here: Syai Compatibility.

The sensor is applied using the easy-to-use applicator included in the box. Simply clean the application site, remove the applicator cap by twisting it off, place it firmly against your skin, and press the button to apply. Then activate the sensor by following the prompts in the Syai app.

The monitor has been researched and thoroughly tested to be applied on the back of the upper arm for the best experience. We do not recommend applying the monitor on areas where excessive activity or movement may cause it to fall off. Please avoid using body lotions or creams in the area, as they may interfere with monitor readings and impair adhesion. Select a smooth skin area free from birthmarks, stretch marks, scars, or lumps, at least one inch away from where you usually inject your insulin.

Most users describe the application as quick and relatively painless. You may feel slight pressure or a brief prick during application.

Each Syai Ultra sensor provides continuous glucose readings for up to 14 days before it needs to be replaced.

The app will notify you when your sensor is nearing the end of its wear period. Once it expires, simply remove the old sensor and apply a new one to continue receiving glucose readings.

Yes. The Syai Ultra is designed for everyday life and can be worn while showering, swimming, and exercising. Avoid exposing the sensor to excessive force or prolonged soaking beyond the recommended limits.

No. The Syai Ultra is factory calibrated and does not require finger-prick calibration.

No. Each Syai Ultra sensor is designed for single use only and cannot be reapplied once removed.

Download the Syai app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Create your account, enable Bluetooth, and follow the on-screen instructions to pair your first sensor.

Open the Syai app, tap Start New Sensor, and follow the prompts to scan and activate your sensor. The app will guide you through the process.

Open the Syai app and navigate to Profile > Settings (top corner) > Alerts, where you can customise your high, low, urgent low, rise, and fall alerts to suit your preferences.

The Syai app allows you to securely share your glucose data with family members or caregivers using the Home Care Follow feature. The follower will first need to download the Syai Link app and create an account using their email address or mobile number. You’ll then navigate to Profile > Home Care > Invite to Follow from within the Syai app.

Syai Link is an app that enables loved ones or caregivers to view real-time glucose readings, trends, alerts and alarms, as well as any logged events.

You will not receive any glucose readings or alerts during this time. When the Syai app reconnects, up to 24 hours of data can backfill.

Yes. You can share your real-time glucose levels, events, alerts and alarms with up to 15 people through the Syai app.

Syai Doctor is a platform that allows you to securely share your glucose data with your healthcare professional (HCP), helping them review your glucose patterns and support your diabetes management. You can invite your HCP by navigating to Profile > Doctor Care > Invite to Follow. The HCP should provide the email or mobile number linked to their account. Alternatively, you can provide your account username (email or mobile number) to the HCP, who can click Add a New Patient and enter it. You should then accept the invitation by navigating to Profile > Doctor Care > Accept Invitation.
